Description

Picatinny Rail for Savage Flat Back Short Action - 20 MOA

Quick Check: STOP and Measure Your Hole Spacing.
⚠️ CRITICAL: Savage made Flat Back receivers in Three lengths (Short, Medium, and Long). Your caliber (e.g., .308) does NOT guarantee you have a Short Action receiver.
✅ Fits ONLY: Receivers with exactly 3.93" spacing between the two middle holes.
❌ Does NOT Fit: Savage "Medium/J-Series" Actions (~4.52") or Long Actions (~5.06").
Elevation Note: This rail features 20 MOA of built-in elevation for long-range shooting.

Installation & Overview

(Watch our guide on how to properly torque and install your EGW rail).

Just because your Savage is a classic doesn't mean it can't shoot long range. This 20 MOA Picatinny Rail is designed specifically for pre-2003 "Flat Back" Short Actions. The 20 MOA cant angles your scope downward, giving you 20 extra minutes of angle of upward elevation travel. This is essential if you plan to stretch your .308 or .243 out past 600 yards without bottoming out your scope's turret.

Machined from domestic 6061 T6 aircraft aluminum, this rail creates a rigid, one-piece bridge over your ejection port. This stiffens the receiver and ensures perfect alignment for your rings. Please verify your receiver length before ordering, as older Savages vary significantly.

Savage Flat Back FAQ

I have a .308/.243. Is that always a Short Action?

NO. This is the most common mistake. On older "Flat Back" Savages, some short-action calibers were built on "Medium" length actions (often called J-Series). You MUST measure the distance between the two middle screws. If it measures 3.93", this mount fits. If it measures anything else (like 4.52"), this mount will NOT fit.

How do I know if I have a "Flat Back"?

Look at the rear of your receiver (where the bolt handle is). If the top surface is flat like a table, you have a Flat Back (Pre-2003). If it is round like a pipe, you have a Round Back (Post-2003/AccuTrigger).

Can I zero at 100 yards with 20 MOA?

Usually, yes. However, since older rifles and scopes may have different tolerances, we recommend checking your scope's total internal travel to ensure it can accommodate the cant.
