Winchester Scope Mount Fitment Guide: Find the Right EGW Rail

Evolution Gun Works (EGW) manufactures American-made Picatinny scope rails for Winchester rifles and shotguns. Choose your rail by the exact firearm model, receiver pattern, action length, and mounting-hole spacing.

A Winchester Model 70 rail is not interchangeable with an XPR or Xpert rail. Even within the Model 70 family, standard/long action, short action, WSM, and WSSM receivers use different mounting patterns. Compare your firearm with the fitment information on the individual product page before ordering.

Winchester Model 70: Receiver Hole-Spacing Guide

The measurements below are the center-to-center distance between the two middle mounting holes. This is the middle-hole spacing, not the distance between the front and rear ends of the rail.

Published EGW Winchester Model 70 rail measurements
Receiver Pattern Middle-Hole Spacing Matching 0 MOA Rail
Model 70 Pre-1964 / Post-1964 Long Action 3.805 inches Model 70 Standard/Long Action
Model 70 Short Action 3.259 inches Model 70 Short Action
Model 70 WSM 3.514 inches Model 70 WSM
Model 70 WSSM 3.225 inches Model 70 WSSM

Model-specific exceptions: The Model 70 Coyote in .243 uses the WSM rail. EGW has also encountered some Featherweight Compact rifles in 6.5 Creedmoor with the WSM mounting pattern. Confirm the receiver's actual hole spacing rather than selecting a mount by caliber alone.

Winchester XPR Scope Rails

XPR rails are specific to the XPR platform and do not fit the Model 70. Confirm your action length and the product's published dimensions before ordering.

Winchester Rimfire and Target Rifle Mounts

  • Xpert .22 LR / .21 Sharp: The Winchester Xpert .22 LR Picatinny Rail fits these bolt-action Xpert models. It does not fit the Xpert Magnum or the semi-automatic Winchester Wildcat.
  • Xpert Magnum: Use the separate Winchester Xpert Magnum 0 MOA Rail for the .17 HMR, .22 WMR, and .17 WSM models. This rail does not fit the Xpert .22 LR / .21 Sharp models.
  • Model 52 Target: Review the Winchester 52 Target 0 MOA Rail. Read its mounting-pattern and barrel-profile notes before selecting a version, as tapered-barrel applications may require the negative 20 MOA option described on that product page.

Winchester Model 88, Model 100, and Shotgun Rails

  • Model 88 and Model 100: The Winchester 88 & 100 0 MOA Rail is listed for both rifle models. Compare the mounting dimensions with your firearm.
  • 1300 and SXP: See the Winchester 1300 / SXP Picatinny Rail for these pump-shotgun models. Review the product page for receiver compatibility and hardware requirements; hardware can differ for other applications listed on that page.

Winchester Scope Mounts: Frequently Asked Questions

Which EGW rail fits my Winchester Model 70?

Start with your receiver pattern and compare the middle-hole spacing with the table above. EGW lists separate rails for the pre-1964 / post-1964 long action pattern, short action, WSM, and WSSM. Check the individual product page for exceptions, including the Model 70 Coyote in .243.

Can I use a Model 70 scope rail on a Winchester XPR?

No. Choose an XPR-specific rail for your receiver. EGW offers separate XPR Short Action and XPR Long Action rails; Model 70 rails are not substitutes for these mounts.

Will the Xpert .22 LR rail fit an Xpert Magnum or Winchester Wildcat?

No. The Xpert .22 LR / .21 Sharp bolt-action models and Xpert Magnum models require different rails. The Xpert .22 LR rail also does not fit the semi-automatic Wildcat. Use the exact model's product page to confirm compatibility.

What mounting hardware comes with EGW Winchester rails?

Check the hardware list on the exact product page. The Model 70 rails linked here list #6-48 screws, while the XPR rails list #8-40 screws. These are different thread sizes, so match the rail and hardware to the intended receiver. Other Winchester models and applications can have different requirements.
