✅ Fits ONLY: Flat Back receivers with exactly 4.09" spacing between the two middle holes.
❌ Does NOT Fit: Standard Short Actions (~3.93") or Long Actions (~5.06").
Elevation Note: This rail features 20 MOA of built-in elevation for long-range shooting.

Installation & Overview

(Watch our guide on how to properly torque and install your EGW rail).

Don't let an oddball action length stop you from shooting long range. The Savage "Medium Action" (J-Series) is a unique intermediate length often found on older rifles chambered in .243 or .308. This 20 MOA Picatinny Rail is precision-machined to fit that specific 4.09" hole spacing, giving you the elevation travel needed to stretch those calibers out past 600 yards.

Machined from domestic 6061 T6 aircraft aluminum, this rail provides a rigid, one-piece mounting platform that bridges the receiver. The 20 MOA cant angles your scope downward, ensuring you have enough internal adjustment to dial for distance without bottoming out your turret.

Savage Flat Back FAQ

What is a "Medium" or "J-Series" Action?

It is an intermediate length action that Savage produced before standardizing on Short and Long actions. Even if your rifle is chambered in a short caliber like .243, it might be built on this longer receiver. Measurement is the only way to know. The center screw spacing MUST be 4.09".

Why do I need 20 MOA?

If you are shooting long range (usually past 600 yards), your scope may run out of "up" adjustment. A 20 MOA base tilts the scope down, effectively giving you 20 extra minutes of angle of adjustment range.

Will this fit the Savage Axis?

No. The Savage Axis (and Edge) uses a completely different hole spacing. Please see our specific Savage Axis rails.
