The EGW Drop-In Flat Bottom Firing Pin Stop is designed specifically for the Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy and MAC 9 DS. Unlike our traditional oversized firing pin stops that are intentionally manufactured with additional material for gunsmith fitting, this version is dimensioned around the Prodigy and MAC 9 DS slide geometry with the goal of providing a straightforward drop-in installation.

Because no two production firearms are dimensionally identical, we do not consider "drop-in" to mean that fitting will never be necessary. Variations in the slide, extractor, firing pin stop channel, and related components can occasionally result in a tighter-than-normal fit. If that occurs, minor fitting may be required.

The flat-bottom profile changes the leverage between the slide and hammer during the initial rearward movement of the slide. Why Use a Flat Bottom Firing Pin Stop?

The lower edge of the firing pin stop contacts the hammer as the slide begins moving rearward. The radius at this point affects the amount of mechanical advantage the slide has when cocking the hammer.

A larger radius allows the slide to begin rotating the hammer rearward more easily. A flat-bottom or small-radius firing pin stop moves the contact point lower on the hammer and reduces that leverage.
