The EGW .066" Oversized 1911 Firing Pin is precision-machined from solid stainless steel for 1911 and 2011 slides requiring a small-diameter firing pin. It is a common replacement option for most Springfield Prodigy pistols, but firearm specifications can vary.
This firing pin is manufactured to a controlled overall length of 2.260". It is not an extra-long firing pin. Properly matching the firing pin diameter to the slide can help minimize excess clearance, primer flow, primer shear, and firing pin channel obstruction.

A firing pin that is too small for the opening can leave excessive clearance around the tip. With some ammunition, primer material may flow into that space and shear as the pistol cycles. Sheared primer material can enter the firing pin channel and interfere with movement.
A firing pin that is too large may not move freely through the slide. The correct firing pin must provide appropriate clearance without binding or leaving unnecessary space around the tip.
The firing pin spring is sold separately. Inspect the existing spring and replace it when appropriate with an ISMI Premium 1911 Firing Pin Spring.
