What is this 16 lb spring for?
A 16 lb spring is the optimized weight for most 9mm Officer's / 3" models. This weight provides enough tension to strip rounds from the magazine reliably while allowing the slide to cycle fully with standard 9mm pressure loads. It is much softer than the 22 lb springs used in .45 ACP models, making the slide easier to manipulate.
Can I use this on my factory guide rod?
No. This flat-wire spring has a different profile than a standard round-wire spring and must be paired with a guide rod specifically designed for 3" flat-wire springs. Using it on a standard guide rod will cause it to bind and will damage the spring and pistol.
