EGW 1911 Recoil Shock Buffers (6-Pack)

The simplest and most effective way to protect your 1911 or 2011 from long-term wear and tear. The EGW Recoil Shock Buffer is a small but critical part that installs on your guide rod, preventing the metal-on-metal impact between your slide and frame during the recoil cycle. Made in the USA from a durable, solvent-resistant polymer, our shock buffers are an essential preventative maintenance item for every 1911 owner.

Firearm Compatibility

This Recoil Shock Buffer Fits:

  • 1911 Pistols (All Models and Calibers)
  • 2011 Pistols (All Models and Calibers)

The EGW Solution for Your 1911

The secret to a long-lasting firearm is preventative maintenance. Here’s why our shock buffs are the superior choice:

  • Protects Your Frame and Slide: By absorbing the impact of the slide, our shock buffer prevents the peening and cracking that can occur on both the frame and slide over thousands of rounds, especially with powerful ammunition.
  • Made from a Durable Polymer: We use a specially selected polymer that is tough enough to withstand repeated impacts but soft enough to cushion the blow. It is also completely resistant to gun oils and cleaning solvents.
  • Easy Drop-In Installation: The buffer simply slides over your recoil spring guide rod during reassembly. It's one of the easiest and fastest upgrades you can make to your pistol.
  • Proudly Made in the USA: Every component is manufactured in our Quakertown, PA facility, guaranteeing the highest level of quality control.

1911 Shock Buffer FAQ

How often should I replace my shock buffer?

Shock buffers are a consumable part. We recommend inspecting the buffer every time you clean your pistol and replacing it when it shows signs of significant wear, tearing, or flattening. A good rule of thumb is to replace them every 1,000 rounds, or sooner if you are using high-pressure ammunition.

Will a shock buffer cause malfunctions?

When new and properly installed, a shock buffer will not cause malfunctions in a properly sprung 1911. However, as the buffer wears and flattens, it can reduce the slide's travel distance. If a buffer is left in for too long and becomes heavily damaged, it could potentially cause a failure to lock back on the last round, which is a good indicator that it needs to be replaced.

Important Information

Shock buffers are a wear item and should be inspected regularly and replaced as needed to ensure the reliable function of your firearm.
