The EGW Hunter Series Savage Flat Back Long Action Picatinny Rail gives owners of older Savage long-action rifles a lightweight, high-strength one-piece optic mounting platform machined specifically for the flat rear receiver profile.
While EGW's Standard Duty Savage rails are machined from 6061 aluminum, the Hunter Series is machined from solid 7075-T6 aluminum to provide increased strength while maintaining a lightweight hunting-oriented design.
The rail is finished with Black Type III Hardcoat Anodizing for additional surface hardness and wear resistance.
This version has 0 MOA of built-in elevation, making it a straightforward choice for general hunting, range use, and applications where additional elevation built into the scope base is not required.
Full-length Picatinny cross slots give you flexibility when positioning your scope rings, making it easier to establish proper eye relief than with traditional two-piece bases.

Savage has used multiple receiver profiles over the years, so identifying the shape of the rear receiver is important before choosing a scope rail.
This mount is designed for Long Action Savage rifles with a flat rear receiver. These older actions have a visibly flat mounting surface at the rear of the receiver rather than the continuous rounded profile found on newer Round Back Savage actions.
FLAT BACK VS. ROUND BACK
Flat Back: The rear scope mounting surface of the receiver is flat. This is the receiver profile this mount is designed for.
Round Back: The rear receiver surface follows a rounded contour. Round Back rifles require the corresponding Savage Round Back rail.
If you are unsure which receiver you have, look at the rear mounting area near the bolt. The difference between the flat and rounded receiver profiles is normally easy to see when viewed from the side.
Hunter Series 7075-T6 Construction
The EGW Hunter Series was developed for shooters who want a lightweight scope base while retaining the strength of 7075-T6 aluminum.
Rather than using extruded 6061 aluminum like our Standard Duty series, the Hunter rail is machined from solid 7075-T6 aluminum.
This makes the Hunter Series a strong option for hunting rifles where keeping unnecessary weight off the rifle matters but a durable one-piece mounting platform is still desired.

After machining, the rail receives a Black Type III Hardcoat Anodized finish.
