The EGW Solution for Your 1911

The secret to a long-lasting, reliable firearm is using parts made from the best materials. Here’s why our hammer strut is the superior choice:

  • Superior to Factory MIM Parts: This strut is CNC-machined from a solid bar of American stainless steel, making it significantly stronger and more durable than cast or MIM factory parts that are prone to breaking.
  • Improves Trigger Feel: The polished stainless steel finish reduces friction against the mainspring and in the mainspring housing, contributing to a smoother, more consistent trigger pull.
  • Corrosion Resistant for Longevity: Stainless steel construction ensures that this part will not rust or corrode, even in harsh environments or with minimal maintenance.
  • Proudly Made in the USA: Every component is manufactured in our Quakertown, PA facility, guaranteeing the highest level of quality control.

1911 Hammer Strut FAQ

What does a hammer strut do?

The hammer strut is a small but critical part that connects the hammer to the mainspring (or hammer spring) located in the mainspring housing. When the hammer is cocked, the strut pivots and compresses the mainspring, storing the energy needed to drive the hammer forward with force when the sear releases it.

Is gunsmith installation required?

While this is a drop-in part for most in-spec 1911s, working on the fire control group requires a thorough understanding of the 1911 platform. For the safety and proper function of your firearm, we strongly recommend having this part installed by a qualified and professional gunsmith.
