Forward assist is an unnecessary feature for a non-battle rifle,IMO,so if I can't get a slick side upper, I use these plugs to cleanly fill the port. Machined well with nice, clean (anodized?) black finish. If I'm having parts cerakoted, I may start getting these coated in the color of the receiver to make it even cleaner looking.
