The 1911 is more than a pistol; it's a legacy. At EGW, we honor that legacy by manufacturing the highest quality 1911 parts and accessories right here in the USA. Whether you are performing a custom build, restoring a classic, or upgrading for competition, our precision-machined components provide the reliability and performance that John Browning's design deserves.
A stock 1911 is a masterpiece, but an EGW-equipped 1911 is a finely tuned instrument. We leverage decades of manufacturing experience to produce parts and accessories that exceed factory specifications.
We don't import or re-brand. Every EGW 1911 part starts as a solid billet of American-sourced 4140 carbon steel, stainless steel, or aerospace-grade aluminum. This commitment means you get a part that is built for durability, holds its tolerances, and will never let you down when it matters most.
The primary difference is the firing pin safety mechanism found in Series 80 pistols. This means parts like the frame, hammer, and sear are slightly different to accommodate the extra components. Due to the wide variation in tolerances across 1911 manufacturers, some of our parts are intentionally made slightly oversized to allow for a perfect, hand-tuned fit by a qualified gunsmith. This ensures maximum performance and safety. While some parts may drop-in, we always recommend professional installation for critical components like sears, hammers, and beavertail grip safeties.
For the biggest impact on performance and feel, most shooters start with the ignition system. Upgrading to an EGW Hard Sear, Hammer, and Disconnector will create a dramatically cleaner and crisper trigger pull. The next most common upgrade is a new Barrel Bushing to improve accuracy, followed by an extended Thumb Safety and Beavertail Grip Safety for better ergonomics.
