The EGW ignition kit is the best upgrade for your 1911. This ignition parts kit includes everything necessary to decrease the trigger pull weight on your 1911. This ignition kit features the EGW 1911 Hammer (Lightened), the EGW Gunsmith Short Hard Sear 1911, the EGW 1911 Disconnector (Ball Head), a 19lb Main Spring and the Colt 1911 Sear Spring. All of these parts make for a crisp, clean trigger pull on your 1911. We always recommend our 1911 parts be installed by a qualified and competent gunsmith.

I have two Springfield Prodigy 1911DS pistols and I’ve installed EGW parts in both. The ignition kit is a significant upgrade from the factory part, but a cautionary warning is due to some. The parts kit may be drop in, but in all likelihood you will have to fit your thumb safety to the new EGW parts. It’s not a difficult task, you will have to make a few strokes of a file on the engagement surface of the safety, but it’s not something you’ll have to pay a gunsmith to do. I hate to say it, but just watch a video on YouTube for a few minutes and you’ll have all the training you need. When you’re done you will have a trigger that matches up well with a Staccato P (there really is no need to replace the Prodigy metal trigger unless you just want a different cosmetic look). Put a EGW slide release/lock on your gun and you’ll be all set with everything the Prodigy needs.

The Factory Prodigy trigger pull is around 4.5#. It's also gritty since they are MIMd parts. This EGW ignition kit made a HUGE difference to the smoothness and how clean the break is. You may need to tune the leaf spring just a little to lighten the trigger pull. I'm down to 2.75#

Stock trigger pull went from 76oz. to 52oz. No fitting was necessary. I have used their kits in my other 1911`s. Very satisfied.
