Your Authoritative Guide to Mounting an Optic on a Ruger 10/22

For decades, the Ruger 10/22 has been the go-to rimfire rifle for shooters of all levels. While the rifle itself is famously reliable, the factory scope mounting solution can be a significant weak point. An EGW one-piece Picatinny rail is the single most effective upgrade you can make. It ensures your scope stays locked in place and guarantees accuracy.

Choosing the Right Mount for Your 10/22 Model

We manufacture mounts to fit every type of Ruger 10/22 owner.

  • Standard Ruger 10/22: This fits the classic carbine or rifle models. Our standard Ruger 10/22 scope mount offers a full-length Picatinny rail. This provides maximum flexibility for placing scope rings and achieving perfect eye relief.
  •
  • Ruger 10/22 Takedown: Our dedicated 10/22 Takedown scope mount is designed for the Takedown model's unique system. It ensures a secure fit that holds zero, even after re-assembly.

What does MOA Mean and Which One Do I Need?

MOA stands for Minute of Angle. It refers to a built-in cant (tilt) in the rail, which is crucial for long-range shooting.

  • 0 MOA: This is the standard, flat rail. It is the perfect choice for most shooters who are zeroed at 50-100 yards.
  •
  • 20, 30, or 40 MOA: A canted base is essential if you enjoy stretching your 10/22 out to longer distances (100-300+ yards) for competitions like NRL22. It gives your scope more internal elevation adjustment to dial for distant targets. A 20 MOA scope base is our most popular option for long-range rimfire shooting.

Looking for a good set of rings?

Check out our Practical, Keystone, and Tactical Rings! Unlike other brands, we control the entire manufacturing process in-house at our Quakertown, Pennsylvania facility. This commitment to quality ensures every set of EGW scope rings meets the highest standards for tolerance, fit, and finish. This gives you confidence that your optic is mounted securely and will retain zero, shot after shot.

  • Practical Rings: These rings are precision-machined from a solid billet of 6061 aluminum. They are built for shooters who demand performance, reliability, and value.
  •
  • Keystone Series: The foundation of the Keystone ring is its robust, horizontally-split design, which is precision CNC-machined from aircraft-grade 6061 aluminum. This is anchored by a heavy-duty Chromoly crossbolt and T15 Torx cap screws. This combination delivers immense clamping force to ensure your scope remains locked in place, guaranteed.
  • Tactical Rings: Each set of these rings begins as a single, solid block of aircraft-grade aluminum. We machine them as one piece, then meticulously cut them apart and serialize each half. This proprietary process creates a perfectly matched set. It ensures the best possible alignment and a stress-free grip on your 30mm scope tube.

Frequently Asked Questions about 10/22 Scope Mounts

(Note: I changed these from H4 to H3 for better heading structure)

Q: Why is a one-piece Picatinny rail better than the factory 10/22 rail?

A: An EGW one-piece rail is superior in several ways. It's machined from solid 6061 aluminum for greater strength. It also offers a true MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny design for universal compatibility. This is a key advantage over a "Weaver base." The Picatinny's standardized slots accept all Picatinny and Weaver-style rings, but a Weaver's narrower slots cannot accept Picatinny rings. Finally, our rail's continuous length allows for far more flexibility in scope placement than short, multi-piece factory options.

Q: Will your Takedown mount allow me to still see my iron sights?

A: Yes. Our mount for the Ruger 10/22 Takedown (Part #46101) is designed with a lower profile. This allows for the use of the factory rear sight even when the mount is installed.

Q: Do your mounts come with the necessary screws?

A: Yes. Every EGW scope mount comes with the correct size Torx head screws. We also include a Torx key for a proper and secure installation on your Ruger 10/22 receiver.
